SWiC accepts donations of funds, used cell phones, gently used items – such as clothing, toys, household items, and more – as well as bequests. Our acceptance of large furniture items may be limited by available storage space and the current needs of survivors. To find out if what you have in mind is something SWiC can use, please call 570.622.3991 before bringing items to donate.

Your generous financial donation will help us provide life-saving services to victims of domestic and sexual abuse fleeing abuse, including 24-hour hotline, emergency shelter, legal advocacy, counseling, and more. Click the button below to show your support. You can also contribute by phone during business hours or mail. Please call 570.622.3991 or make check out to “SWiC” and mail to: SWiC, P.O. Box 96, Pottsville, PA 17901.
Opportunities for special gifts and planned giving are also available to support SWiC's work now and into the future. Please contact SWiC’s President/CEO for more information at 570.622.3991 during business hours.
A local communication company re-programs donated phones so that they can be used to call 911 during an emergency. These phones are given to shelter residents when they leave the building for work or errands, to clients whose abuser broke or took the victim’s cell phone, and to clients whose abuser has access to her phone records and usage. Please include the charger(s) with the phone(s). In addition, SWiC sends gently used phones to the Shelter Alliance Program which results in a monetary donation to the agency to help defray the cost of our operating expenses as we help victims. Donated cell phones can be mailed to SWiC at P.O. Box 96, Pottsville, PA 17901 or call 570.622.3991 for other arrangements.
SWiC accepts gently used clothing for women of all sizes and ages, for children of all sizes and genders, for men generally of a style for teens, as well as donations of new underwear and socks. We also accept gently used toys (no toys that look like weapons please). If you are interested in donating large items such as furniture, please contact SWiC’s Property Manager, 570.622.3991, to see if we are able to use, re-locate, or store that item at this time.
We are unable to pick up donations due to limited staff and transportation. Donations may be dropped off between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. weekdays. Other times may be arranged by calling SWiC at 570.622.3991. Please call before dropping off donations.
Throughout the year, many students seeking to fulfill community service hours, individuals, and businesses assist SWiC by conducting product collections to benefit the survivors we serve. If you or an organization are interested in conducting a collection, please contact SWiC at 570.622.3991.
Deduct the full fair market value of appreciated assets. Avoid capital gains taxes.
Leverage the amount of your gift by naming SWiC as the beneficiary of your insurance policy or transfer ownership of a policy to SWiC.
Save estate and inheritance taxes by naming SWiC in your will.
Donors who have reached age 70 ½ can transfer up to $100,000 from their IRA directly to SWiC avoiding income taxes while both satisfying their minimum distribution requirement and avoiding otherwise applicable percentage restrictions on charitable deductions.
Charitable lead trusts and charitable remainder trusts allow donors to realize current income tax benefits while retaining either an income stream or a residual interest for themselves or other family members. A great strategy to receive an income stream from otherwise low dividend yielding tocks while avoiding taxes due on restructuring your portfolio.
